[DML] Clutch behavior

About 2 years ago I replaced my clutch master & slave cylinders and
replaced the line with a stainless, braided one. I did this during
the summer and the pedal was drastically improved.
2 years later (this winter), when the temperature drops to 30-27 F
degrees, the pedal seemed very soft and at times, I had trouble
getting into gears. I kept checking the fluid level and the bottle
was always full. There were no leaks or stains at the slave cylinder
or inside/outside the footwell so I know I didn't have a leak.
Since I hit the 2 year mark anyway, I flushed the system as David T.
likes to remind us and the fluid was absolutely black and when I
poured it into a disposal container it seemed...watery. Again, the
pedal has greatly improved.
Still, I feel it could be yet a little better. I intend to make a
minor adjustment at the pedal cleavis and extend the link. Is there
any reason I shouldn't do this?
Also, apparently while I was digging around at the slave cylinder, I
caused a minor short between the tail and reverse lights that's
causing some interesting interplay between the tail, reverse and left
turn signal. When the tail lights are off, everything works properly.
I can handle this problem. I'm just griping. :P The cleavis is my
primary question.
