It is a possibility, I guess..
On the other hand it seems to me that this was an issue that was discovered 
a long time ago and it's been fixed a long time ago. I've been using the 
single electrode Bosch platinum plugs and never had a problem. The ones I 
got were manufactured in Germany but I bought them in the US.
I have put about 20k miles on my first D with those plugs in it... no 
problem. And I have about 15k miles on my current car with those same 
plugs.... no problem. The car runs great, smooth and most of all starts 
right up even after it's been sitting for two months! I just turn the key, 
crank for less than ONE second and it runs!
I'm happy with how they perform.

BTW, I do not work for Bosch and have absolutely no connection to them
