Something is installed wrong. The hinges should not be near the glass, and if they are touching it, it will eventually break. Best thing it to take a close look at another car or get some detail photos. I can't imagine what's wrong but somehow the hinges are not attached to the louver in the correct orientation. Interesting to note - if you have the louver off the car, it's possible to break the rear glass by simply dropping the hinge against it. It's like a glass cutter....
