A transparent logo or web address or copyright would make it a real pain for those who steal (they would have to clean it up in photoshop or something.) I suspect thieves would simply go to the next set of pictures that didn't have the same careful markings and steal them. Watermarking also serves others who could easily identify fraud when a stupid thief uses a protected image. It makes sense, cause once it's out there, it's out there for the entire world to see (and steal) -forever.
