Hey Shane! You made Captain! Congrats.
The only way I know of to make replacing the distributor cap easier is
to take the air mixture box from between the plenums. This means
dismantling the idle air path, removing the w-pipe in the rear, and
disconnecting the fuel distributor from the air box. It's only worth it
if re-assembly is a job you do quickly and well.
Take a look at the two electrical signal connector blocks that plug into
the back of the instrument cluster. I'll bet you'll find one of the
positions bent over or pushed back.

because of
it's location. Can ANYONE please give me a secret to getting to that
elusive
distributor without killing myself?

properly accept for the temp guage. So, I got a new guage and replaced
it, all
was well, but while I had the cluster out I noticed that someone had
soldered a
jump wire from the temp guage to the passenger side of the printed
circuit board.
I replaced the circuit board and the whole passenger side of the
cluster doesn't
work. Any ideas on how I can get the wiring redone or possibly run a
jump wire
on a more consistent and powerful lead?
