Good input, Harold :-) If you manage to get a cam off by a tooth, the
engine runs like a bag of nails - got the T shirt on that one! I think
Nick has now manually timed up the cams with a dial gauge so the process
is very different than following the book
The early Renault engines have a single fuel inlet on each rail and
quickly moved to twin pressure regs and twin inlets so there may be a
pressure differential along the rail - but I suspect the symptoms of
that would be less obvious than these.
Nick: remind me, have you tried running the cams at 110 degrees inlet
full lift? Mate if you get really stuck, I can supply a pair of cams
from a Z7U turbo engine which you can time up by the book.
For anyone's interest, we have two complete Z7U 2458cc turbo engines
ready to go. I've already hybridised a third into a DeLorean with an
Island Twin Turbo.
