Arcing indicates that your wires need to be replaced. Of course you need to
keep in mind that old spark plugs or incorrectly gapped plugs can cause the
same problem. If the gap is way too large it will cause the voltage to raise
to such a level that it breaks the insulation and arcs to the engine. If the
plugs are fairly new and correctly gapped you will need to replace the spark
plug wires. Replace ALL of them including the one from the coil to the
distributor and the problem will go away. You will also notice that the
engine is easier to start, runs smoother and reacts better to gas input.
