Thanks David.  I will take another look at it this weekend and give your suggestion a try.   
   
  BTW - that person that broke it was me.  The other day as I was getting into the car, the bottom of my sweat pants slide over the turn stalk.  As I sat down, it pulled the stalk down to the position it is now at.   It still works - just at this funky angle!
   
  Will report back my results.
