In my many conversations with Ken, I think all it takes to keep him
going is for all of us to show up and have a good time. Ken will
continue to do this as long as there is a need and we all take
advantage of it. Lets face it, thats why he started doing it. The
DOA events were not filling a need and Ken stepped up to the plate!
I also believe when the time comes (nothing great lasts forever) Ken
will pass the event on to somebody that is capable.
I really think the DOA had a good run and just got tired... no new
blood (that was in control) to carry on the torch. Thats why the
events and the magazine started changing... and I understand that.
But now the new events and magazines have stepped up and are doing a
wonderful job. I think our support will keep all the new things
running strong for a long time to come. The DOA will find its place,
I'm sure, but I, for one, am not going to pack up the DeLorean Car
Show, DeLorean Car Show Magazine, Gullwing Magazine, and Deloreans
Magazine any time soon. While I wish I could have been a part of the
DOA hayday, I'm excited about the current shows and mags that are
available.
The longevity of the DOA was finite, and Im sure some of the new
things we have now wont last forever, but thankfully a new guard will
come along, pick up the ball and run with it.
