The way the turbos are set up to work on the Island kit means thay have
to suck the air down through the metering flap exposing the impeller to
quite high vacuum (such is the nature of K-Jet). In a proper turbo
application, the metering flap should come AFTER the blower. I would
suspect your turbos simply because that was the last thing you toyed
with. However, I know one thing that will blow clouds of white smoke
that isn't particularly smelly and that's a ruptured brake servo causing
brake fluid to be drawn down the vacuum line and burnt in the engine.
I've seen it on a Right-hander with a secondary servo in the rear.
