I don't know what good it could be, but I believe the reason our club (the ETDOC) has had such a growth in the gatherings is the informality of it all. Yes, Aaron does an AWESOME job of organizing these events, and they are always held at nice places with fun things, but for the most part it's just a bunch of friends getting together to have fun, and constantly bringing new people into the fold. Many times we don't know where we're going to eat the night before the gatherings. And this is why we're getting the reputation that we have. Even though the club is based around the car, it's not always "centered" around the car, moreso the people. Maybe this can help you out!
