floppy mirrors

Hello group,

Since I bought my car a year ago, the passenger and driver side 
mirrors have been really "floppy", meaning they will not stay in 
place AT ALL! I have seen other posts on this, but no replies on how 
they become this way, or how to fix them.

Any thougts?
