Fuel tank baffle

I was wondering what the correct position is for the in tank
baffle, when I replaced the fuel pump and compontents the baffle
was pointing towards the left side of the car. When I see pictures
of the baffle it is pointing towards the back of the car. Which way
is the right way? Also, since I'm in there, my baffle does not have
a bottom to it, should I install one?
