Rev limit

What is the rev limit on the PRV?? I have owned several V-8 cars and the
tachometer on each has indicated that 4500-5000 rpms is yellow and that 5000
and up is red. The DMC tach shows the red line much higher. I usually
shift (5 speed)at no more than 4000-4500 rpms. However, the cars doesn't
seem to really get its power going until about 3500 rpms. I do not want to
damage my engine at all, but I would like to know how far I can safely go
before shifting. Any help??? Thanks
