really a torsion bar? It looks too thin and too long to me.
For size reference: the white thing sticking into the picture 
at the bottom is the toe of a shoe...

This bar looks more like the one in the engine bay near the resistors;
the one all the cables are tied to...

Also, if it were a torsion bar, wouldn't the ends look different?
Just wondering since I've never seen one out of the car...
