I've no idea precsely what hoops you need to jump through if you're not in
DC, but I popped down to the passport office on L St. a few year back
(with all necessary ID *and* a copy of my itinerary) and walked out with a
passport in hand about two hours later. Granted, there was a family
emergency in the UK; just saying it *can* be done if needed.

Oh, and you know what happens when you're staring at a DMC shop manual at
4am? You get really strange DMC dreams, that's what. Somehow, I don't
think this was *quite* what JZD had in mind... :)
