VMR does not provide pricing information for any 1981-1983 models, hence
nothing on the DeLorean. They only provide a link to AutoTrader online
where you can search classifieds for cars for sale. Same thing with
Hemmings, they only provide classifieds for cars for sale. Problem with
either of these is that they only have ASKING prices. SELLING prices are
where the "true" values are found, and then only when collectively averaged
within categories of conditions. Selling prices at first class auctions
such as Kruse (with lots of bidders) is another good source of values.
Another problem with establishing relevant DeLorean values is that so few
of them go through "standard" selling channels, thus collecting a useable
and current base of selling prices is difficult if not entirely impossible.
The value of a DeLorean or any other "collectible" is largely determined
by the economy. When the economy is good, prices are up. When the economy
sours, so do prices.
