IMO the touchless car washes are fine for the D. With the high pressure of the water, they are also very good at discovering leaks. :) The wax hasn't been too much of a problem with my car, unless the car is overly dirty (Especially with greasy hand prints). The wax can then make the prints a little harder to get out. If you go through a wash where the brushes move against the grain, you run the risk of putting scratches in the car. . . you are basically re-graining the stainless steel in a different direction. If you want to stay completely safe, find a good ole' self service car wash. Ok, I have a few questions about the automatic car washes. I have been debating on putting my car thru one of the washes because I am too lazy to wash my car every week. 1) If it IS a 'TOUCHLESS' car wash, the car should come out AOK, right? 2) What about wax? Should we decline that offer? If the car gets waxed, then what? 3) And just what would happen if the car was washed and you didn't go 'with' the grain? What happens? Just curious. If someone knows, let me know. My car is in dire need of some Mr. Bubble...
