Nick and others, The tach always parks between 2 and 3. It's not the electronics but just the way the needle is balanced. It doesn't matter where the needle is when you turn the key off, it always parks there. If you're looking at a picture and you can't tell if the car is running or not, just look at the volts. When you turn the key off, it always goes down to 0. The tach goes down to 0 just as you turn the key on, and goes up between 2 and 3 when you turn it off.
