[DML] Re: Over-valued?

This is exactly the reasoning I follow when trying to get out to shows and
events and talk to people about the DeLorean. I repeatedly meet people, as I
am sure all owners do, who have many misconceptions about the DeLorean.
Recently while I attended the Atlantic City Classic car auction I was asked
countless questions as I stood next to the DeLorean that was there. Probably
because of my DeLorean Jacket :-) Anyway people are really interested in our
cars at events like these and other shows. I believe there is no better way
to promote the marque than by getting out and attending these events so the
public can see the cars. Also so we as knowledgeable owners can educate
people about the truths about the DeLorean such as reliability, availability
of cars and parts, and so on and to dispel the many misconceptions we all
hear such as "That's a Ford motor right?" or "They only made a thousand of
these because they were unreliable" and so on. I am sure we have all heard
our share. I know I did before I started researching about DeLoreans to
eventually buy one. It was knowledgeable and courteous owners (and
especially the DML) that lead me to be an informed buyer, which resulted in
my purchasing a really nice D. I don't think I would have drove from NJ to
Michigan to buy my car if it weren't for the people on this list, and other
owners and specialists like Rob Grady for one, who helped me to be aware of
all the things to look for in a DeLorean when considering buying one. In any
event, when we can meet people and talk to them and get the real story of the
DeLorean out there, then we are helping to promote our cars collectability
and value. And also help others to eventually Live The Dream.

<< Probably the best thing we can do to help enhance the desirability of our
cars is to put them in car shows. Let people see them. Let people know
they're obtainable, reasonably priced and repairable. It was the sight of
Gary Gore's D at two car shows a few weeks apart that convinced me that I
wanted a D, and could actually go through with it. >>
