[DML] no start

finally had my first problem with my car.....and it's not on the road
yet!....Last friday I go out to the car , turn the key and nothing. No
clicking ...nothing....I start to get nervous, but it ends up being the
battery...after a quick charge it was starting up with no problems....so
here's the question....how could a battery go dead over night? It was
cold but i wouldn't think it could go dead so quick.
