[DML] [Fwd: torque] was Northstar Conversion

Hi list!

Following the little discussion we had a bout the frame, and the amount
of torque it can handle, I sent an email to the makers of permaframe, as
I was curious..

Just thought you all might be interested in the response...

Hello Matt,

Following are the answers to your questions:

>I just have a little question... It may be due to my lack of

>In your faq, you state that the original frame could handle 130 ftlbs of

>toque than this(right?)

Yes, the original engine would produce something like 150 to 160 Ft. Lbs.
of torque.

>How, then, could the original frame handle the original engine? Or Can
>it? Maybe the power of the original engine is sufficient to warp the
>frame...

The original engine does indeed warp the frame. If you examine the
original frame, you can see stress cracks that have formed in the epoxy
coating. This varies based on the driving style of the owner and mileage.

Hope that helps.
