Removing the torsion bars is not as difficult as it has been made out
to sound,
as long as you have the proper help, tools, and brace. Check out my

This summer, with the help of two friends, I removed both bars from my
car. The
amount of force required to hold, release, and re-wind the bars is
about the
same as holding a cinder block above your head (I was working in a
confined
height, and couldn't use a very long pipe extension on the breaker
bar). So
the key is, put the strong guy on torque detail, someone on mount doing
/undoing, and a backup to hold the brace from sliding around. Also,
you want to
use high quality tools for this procedures, no Chrome-Vanadium steel
business.

While I was in there, I took the opportunity to reinforce the steel
panel that
the torsion bars mount into. Well worth the extra time and effort.
