came from the original estimated cost for the car: $12,000.00. I believe I

If you go onto Tamir's web page (can't remember the URL) you will see a 
questionaire that Mr. DeLorean himself filled out and the very first question 
was that and it is in fact the price the DeLorean was supposed to be sold for 
but because the price of the British pound went up from 1.40 to 2.40 the 
price of the car almost doubled.
