So which one is it? Black smoke or oil? :-) Seriously, burning oil produces 
white smoke that has a blue tint to it. Unless you are burning a LOT of oil, 
which I doubt. Other materials like rubber can produce a thick black smoke. 
Maybe your problem is with another system on the car?
