Mike, I wouldn't recommend Trichloroethane for cleaning anything vinyl. I am a pharmaceutical chemist and have some experience with organic solvents. If the Trich' does not deform your vinyl after the first few uses it certainly will with repeated use. It also "dehydrates" the vinyl which will promote premature aging and cracking. Trich' is harsher and less healthier than acetone. I've used acetone on my carpet but I still wouldn't recommend it for the dash. The only thing I would use Trich' for is removing road tar etc from an unpainted body.
