[DML] Re: Solvents

Mike,
I wouldn't recommend Trichloroethane for cleaning anything vinyl. I am a
pharmaceutical chemist and have some experience with organic solvents. If
the Trich' does not deform your vinyl after the first few uses it certainly
will with repeated use. It also "dehydrates" the vinyl which will promote
premature aging and cracking. Trich' is harsher and less healthier than
acetone. I've used acetone on my carpet but I still wouldn't recommend it
for the dash. The only thing I would use Trich' for is removing road tar etc
from an unpainted body.
My 2 cents,
-SweatyEddy
