The DeLorean tranny has the final drive gear flipped over onto the other
side so the output rotates backwards; internally it all works the same,
save that one gear. I don't know whether a regular front wheel drive
transmission could be converted easily by a machinist or a transmission
specialist, but I think the point is moot since the DMC auto was not used
in any other US-marketed cars.
