When building the 97 DeLorean we noticed that the roof brace had become
unglued from the fiber glass body shell. This made the door too
flexible in their mounting. By putting bolts and reinforcement plates
underneath, this problem was fixed and better engineered.

Your problem may also be partly related to over torquing of the door
torque rods in combination of the above or as the cause in the first
place.
