[DML] door mechanism

Three days ago my drivers door would not open (I was inside). I drove
home, climbed out the passenger door then attempted to open it from the
outside. I had previously had a bit of difficulty with this door
unlocking, but not sure if this is related. Anyway, I pulled up the door
handle and with my other hand, pulled up the door itself.

It opened but the mechanism apparently would not open correctly and
pulled the front striker came out. The striker mounting bracket is now
loose, and stripped, so I will have to find how to replace that. But my
big question is: what caused it? A bad door mechanism? Locking problem?
The rear one seems to work fine. And how can I tell? I want to replace
the correct part.

Also, if I have to change the door latch, are any of these parts crossed
referenced to other makes?

By the way, still looking for a new, old style AC accumulator.
