Hi Richard. I actually fabricated the upper portion
of the fascia out of fiberglass for the Type S
Delorean ("Project Delorean"). I too was concerned
about being able to flex it enough to install it, but
the fiberglass actually wasn't too bad and flexed
enough to clear the studs. The real challenge was
designing and embedding the mounting studs since
unlike most "conventional" cars, nearly none of the
Delorean's fascia fasenters are exposed once
installed. This also presents a big challenge when
considering ways of producing fascias, even in small
volumes. I also had to deal with the fact that the
type of headlights I used had to be mounted BEFORE the
fascia was installed, preventing some of the
accessibility found on the original design. I've had
several people inquire as to whether or not I'd be
producing these for sale, but the complexity really
makes it more thouble than it's worth for me. Maybe
Video Bob can engineer something better!
