It could be that the temp gauge just isn't that accurate. Get a
thermometer or an infra-red temp indicator and check the coolant. It
should get to around 200 degrees when the motor is warmed up. Check it
at the otterstadt switch with the infra-red indicator if you have it
or if you are checking the coolant in the header bottle with a
thermometer it should be around 160-180. Of course this will vary
depending on the ambient temperature. You may have a loose connection
on the temperature sending unit. Remove the wire and make sure it is
clean and grips the terminal on the sender tightly. The sender is
located on the front of the engine on the right hand cylinder head up
by the firewall. It is not good for the engine to run too cold. All
the clearances are set up for it to operate at around 200 degrees. The
temperature is also controled by the otterstadt switch. Some run too
hot and some run too cold. You may have to replace it. Also the fans
MUST cycle. They are not supposed to run continuosly except when the
A/C is on and even then they cycle on and off with the compressor. The
fans should not cycle because of the circuit breaker. If you have the
origional 35 AMP in then upgrade to the 40 AMP.

I can't believe after all of this time being part of the DeLorean community,
I haven't heard anything about the LMC venture of John DeLorean.
After reading the post about the snow groomers, I searched online myself,
and learned about the DMC/LMC deal and such. You can even see the LMC logo as
being a blatent copy of the DMC logo.
I have a lot more to learn now, about the snowcat part of the DeLorean
history.

I was just looking through my bookmarked DMC website collection to see wich
links have become inactive and I found something interesting on the project
vixen website;

The Ebay search on the bottom I found interesting, especially some of the
items. There is a nice delrean clock, a DVD I couldn't find on amazon (i
didn't look hard), and an interesting looking video called bikini planet.
(looks pretty dumb.)
I figured I would send this to the list to let them know of another video
with a delorean in it.
perhaps Tamir can get a clip for his website.
Don't have the car.

Alright, well after a bit of reading, a rough story:
John bought a snow grooming company, and then renamed it Logan
Manufacturing Company, or LMC, after the city of the company's origin, Logan, Ohio. They
made LMC a branch of DMC, and when DMC was going under, John sold LMC. LMC
then went bankrupt around 2000.
A short story, but I try my best.

hi regarding your a pillar trim, your car is an 81 the diference
between the 81 and 82 is that your a trim is glued to the frame and
the 82 is cliped {but not all} mine is an 82 the a pillar trim on
mine is black plastic with gray leather glued to it.its the leather
thats sandwidged between the glass{windsheald}and a pillar frame,but
on an 81 car the leather is folded around the plastic part that its
glued too so its not sandwidged beetween the windscreen even if it
were like an 82 car you dont remove the windscrren to remove it as
far as i know.to remove your a pillar trim {i havent got round to
doing it yet but have looked in to it}you have to just take your time
and pry it off,try not to stretch your trim peice to much as you can
repair the warping later.i used to work in a body shop and to repair
the plastic warping just heat the plastic up and bend and shrink the
warping out{this type of plastic has an exellent memory so you should
find it easy to work with

to paint your cover when painting any plastic YOU HAVE TO USE AN ETCH
PRIMER FOR PLASTIC VERY IMPORTANT.first of all you go over your panel
with the gray scotch brite pad or P800 sand paper{p800 if in europe}
{diferent p rating in usa}{remember remove all loose old paint then
just etch the panel with your etch primer{single pack} once etched
you normaly have to top coat within an hour{depending on make of etch
primer}bacause left too long and the top coat will eventuly peal and
crack off}same if dont use any etch primer at all!.So once etch
primed you are ready to top coat with colour i would use two pack but
you have to have speicai breathing kit{it has isosionide in it}if you
dont have the kit you will use a single pack paint its easyer to aply
but not as hard wearing.if you have any problems feel free to email me

The most commonly used spoiler for the DeLorean comes
from Pontiac Firebirds/Chevy Corvettes in the mid/late
80's. The fit perfectly, line up well so as to not
block much rear view and they also clear the antenna.
You should (must) use heavier struts and even have
some sort of locking device to avoid a hard bang on
the head while working in the engine compartment.
BTW, this is the same series of cars that contributes
the third brake light used on many of our cars.

This message is for those DeLorean Owners that have the aftermarket Cadillac alternators in their car.
Me alternator recently went the way of the dodo bird. Rather than replacing it with the 150 amp brute, I went the more practical route of purchasing the Delco alternator. What I was wondering is what modifying was done, and how it was done to the exisiting wires to fit into the Cadillac alternator 2 pronged plug. Thanks for your help.

Subject: Shift boot?
Since I finished my 915 tranny swap, I'm now in need of a shift boot. I
know they're only $80 from the DMC vendors but I was wondering if anyone had
a used one they'd want to part with. The condition isn't really important.
The reason why is I'm not sure exactly how it'll work with my transmission
so I don't wana drop $80 for something that may not work for me. If anyone
has one, please feel free to email me directly.
Also, is there any difference in the auto and manual consoles where the boot
would mate? Mine was an automatic.
