In some states, ie lovely New Hampshire, any sort of emissions
modification is "not legal". I have found out the hard way.

is this part available?
or does anybody know of a tip that fits?
i just want a plain slant cut tip
something that will make the exhuast NOT loot like the car is a wheel

Martin, Chris and the whole UK group,
If a picture is worth a thousand words, you guys should be able to
write a novel about this new SS Free Flow Exhaust system. While I
did read that the system does not come with the polished appearance
that is in the photos, it still looks like great SS craftsmanship.
Anxiously awaiting the dyno testing of the cat and cat-less systems.
With the goals of less restriction, more HP, a better exhaust note
with choices and overall better appearance, what else can a Delorean
enthusiast ask for in a free flow, SS exhaust system.
Since I do not keep up with exchange rates and import duty taxes,
can anyone check on a ballpark price (in US dollars) to purchase
this exhaust system and ship it over to this side of the pond?
And, is it available for immediate purchase, in various forms?
Sounds like the "extra raspy" exhaust note will be my choice.

Tommy,
Don't be fooled by terms like "low mileage" or "garage kept".
Just because a car is low mileage and has been garaged for 10 years
does not imply the frame will be rust free. For those of you that
were at the Midwest Fall Tech Session last year or saw the photos
know that the 24K mile car that we did the frame swap on, or was it
frame drop, anyway the car had one of the worse cases of frame rust
through damage than most of us have seen on a car still rolling.
This car also had not been run in over 10 years and had been garage
kept for those previous 10 years. However, the first 8 - 9 years of
its life were spent driving from around Detroit, MI all year round,
including the notoriously highly salted winter roads in Michigan.
The key is to be prepared. Download a copy of the DMC inspection
checklists from DMC Texas and bring a still camera or video camera.
The next best thing to bring is a knowledgeable Delorean person
with you to help with the initial inspection and evaluation. Most
Delorean enthusiasts are pretty good at 'not jumping your claim'
when it comes to helping another person evaluate a car for sale,
but all bets may be off if you come across a Legend TT powered car
or a rare RHD example that may have crossed the pond.

I checked out those hoses before and after the car was warmed up.
They did feel warm, but not really hot.. I think they have fluid
flowing through them.. guess its a flap problem in the dash... do i
need to remove the center console to get at the heater core and
components?
Also i started doing my rear wheel bearing yesterday. for the life of
me I could not get the outer part of the bearing out of the hub. I
took it to a local mechanic and they are supposed to have it out and
the new bearing inside by noon today.. I hope they dont eff it up.

The pedal pressure in a Delorean is not that much. Either you are
having a problem with your leg or there is a problem inside the
clutch. If you can't get another Delorean owner to check the pedal
then just go ahead and tear out the clutch and see what the problem
is. It could be as simple as just a lack of lubrication. Lube the
pedal linkage too and flush the clutch fluid. if you haven't already
replaced the line running fron the clutch master cylinder to the slave
cylinder do that also.

Since Soma gave you the right info for getting the switches to sit
level all I want to say is that spraying the switches with cleaner is
a very temporary way to get them to work. Ultimatly they should be
replaced. The insides get burnt up and the springs and metal get
overheated to the point where they are just unreliable. A better
temporary fix is to file and reshape the contact points but to do that
you must disassemble them.

The Tour starts promptly at 12:00 PM at the former DeLorean Mansion
in Lamington NJ. (Bring your own picnic lunch and drinks)
Take I –78 to exit 26 (north) CR-665, make a right (east) onto
CR-523 Lamington Rd. (Road forks, stay left) You will pass a white
schoolhouse on right and a white Presbyterian Church on the left. The
mansion entrance is on the right, there is a green sign that says
Lamington Farms Golf Club (street # is 587).
Important instructions please read and follow!
Please do not enter the property before 12:00! There are two small
parking lots west of the mansion by the Presbyterian Church and
schoolhouse. I did not arrange permission to use these parking lots,
if you use them as a meeting area please be discreet, courteous and
use common sense. Remember we are in a small town with a private
police force and highly visible.
Note: There is not much in the way of public bathrooms or food near
the mansion. The closest facilities I found are a few miles
away, take CR-523 (Lamington Rd.) east and make a right (south)
onto RT 202/206 (not much to chose from BTW).
We will set the cars up for the photo shoot in front of the mansion
and you can explore the grounds etc. Depending on the weather and if
we have access to the mansion and bathrooms. We will have David's
DeLorean Detailing course and Rob Gradys DeLorean inspection at the
mansion (around 1:00) or we will Caravan back to the hotel, check in
and do these evens back at the hotel. There is also a shopping mall
on the hotel grounds open till 6:00PM. Westin Princeton Hotel (609)

Dinner is $30 per person and is a complete dinner (a cash bar is

Sunday Oct 20th
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. We will caravan from the hotel
around 11:45 am to New Hope PA. We will be parking on the NJ side at
Lambertville Station. Parking is approximately $5. If you eat at
Lambertville Station I think you still get a credit towards dinner so
save your receipt. New Hope is a great town with lots to do and see.
Don't forget your FM two way radios we will be on channel 12!
(please bring an extra radio if you have them).

Heh, well, it sounds as if you're about to get what you deserve for
NOT waiting. You'll pay dearly (from the pocketbook in the long-run)
for hurrying into this deal. But... I can only say this. I know for
a fact that you will NOT understand what I mean for maybe another
year or so when it all catches up with you. So I don't expect you to
understand at this point.
When it comes to DeLoreans you DEFINETELY get what you pay for.
You'll find thirty or so owners who will tell you the same thing.
Buy a DeLorean that is as close to finished as possible or you WILL
pay big bucks getting it to where it's even acceptable to be
classified as a "good" car.
There's nothing like making car payments for four years on a car
that "suddenly" needs $5000 in repairs, heh. Yeah, you'll like
that... Still paying for a car that you now need to borrow MORE
money to pay for the repairs.
If you can't afford to buy the car with cash you DEFINETELY won't be
able to afford to fix it when it comes time. Which is obviously
immediately from what you wrote.
Mine was in pretty good condition when I bought it. It needed much
less than what you've described yours as needing. It was driveable
and very good looking inside and out. The first time I did minor
repairs it was $5000, the second time it was $3200, and just this
spring I spent (no joking here) $14000. Each time for little things
all considered minor repairs. Well, I did have the crush zone
replaced so you can discount $2000 if you want for that.
Personally I'd never buy a DeLorean (or any other car) that needed a
bunch of repairs for no other reason than because "I couldn't wait".
You'd be better off waiting and finding one that is in much better
condition. Trust me there's tons of them out there for sale in much
better condition than what you're describing. And there'll still be
many, many out there whwen you can better afford it.

Subject: HT Lead question
Hi all,
I have just replaced my distributor cap and rotor and my HT leads. I
got them from a local motor store, so called `performance Hot-Wire HT
leads'.
Anyway the chap in the shop recognised that the engine was Renault 30
when I said it was a DeLorean which I found quite surprising and sure
enough in his book he had a list of all the correct length leads
required for the engine.
I had the originals with me to compare and they were correct, however
when he showed me the `coil wire' it did not look the same as the
original. The original coil wire has a sort of braided stainless
steel sheath running from the coil end about 4 inches along the lead.
This then has a wire that seems to earth onto the rear of the intake
manifold. The one the chap in the shop showed me was just the same as
the other HT leads.
So what is the significance of the braid and earth wire on the
original coil wire? I assume it is still required.
Has anyone else found this to be a problem when replacing the leads?
