Hi,

I seem to notice there are never any Delorean shows near NY, NJ, or PA. Does
anyone have a listing or know of a place with that shows when any would be
in the area?

Thanks,

Alex.

When I replaced the heat shield recently I went with one from Byrne
Heninger.  It appears to be a composite material and bends all the way
around the CAT to provide protection both top and bottom.  The only thing is
it's been kinda smelly lately as it brakes in.

I bought a Kenwood Kdcc715 10 disk cd changer. It fits in the Locking
box, but only with out the brackets. I thought it might be possible to
mount it with Velcro, would that work? The other thought would be
mounting it in the trunk, but can you run cables to the trunk. I haven't
looked too closely but it looks pretty seamless.

I replaced my blower motor with a NAPA #6551005.  Works perfectly,
and wasn't too expensive (around $60).  The former fan rusted to
bits from the inside out and squealed like something awful.

Installation was a snap, no reversing any wires.  No fittment
problems.  The only thing I did was scuff up the paint on the body
of the new fan a bit to promote better grounding (on both the part
that mates with the housing, and the 3-prong ground thing).

This is not a "spray paint" but it is an excellent choice for maintaining
the original appearance of the vinyl interior.

The name of the product?

It is AUTOGLYM!

Best stuff there is after my opinion, they even have a tube with stuff that
they recommend on stainless steel! I tried that one too, and the results are
outstanding! Very, very good products!

Best wishes

Hey List,

Well...there isn't really a DeLorean only show per se, but every Friday
night if weather permitting there is always a specialty car show in Bellmore
on sunrise highway in Nassau County.  There are like 3 blocks of parking lots
and everyone brings in their old cars, muscle cars, and there is always a guy
who brings his Dodge Viper.  Hope that helps some.

Later,
Nick

Subject: Rear closing panel WANTED

Hello,
I am finishing up the rear end of my car and cant put the fascia on until
I get the rear closing panel.  This is the fiberglass piece that the rear
fascia screws into.  The engine compartment light also hooks to this piece.
I am looking for a USED one with no big cracks or tears.  I am also looking
for the impact absorber for the rear bumper.  I dont want to buy these items
new because they dont show and I need 2 windows next.  If you have either of
these parts please email me with your best possible price and I will get back
with you.
If you want to make a trade I have a rear fascia that is painted black.
it has a 5 inch tear on the passenger side that could easily be fixed.
certainly worth the trade or I will pay cash.  email me privately!

Thank you

Subject: (sorry, wrong) Re: door adjustment

Sorry David, no offense, but you're wrong on both parts here.

First of all, I spoke with Rob Grady from PJ Grady about my door alignment,
and he said that there should be no grease on the pegs. That area should be
totally dry, as well as the latch area. I know this because I did grease
mine up, and he pointed it out to me that the first thing I had to do was
clean them from any grease.

Secondly, if you remove a peg completely, the back plate will not fall into
the pontoon. I know this because I removed mine. If yours fall behind,
something is broken in your car. The pegs can be removed to ensure that the
door is aligned with the body correctly. Then, if it is, you can re-install
the pegs (one at a time) and align them with the door latches so the door
closes properly.

Sunday June 25, 2000

25th annual Bowie Maryland British Car Day (Bowie as in the singer David
Bowie)

In 1999 there were 800 British cars on display around the lake. Rolls Royce,
Lotus, Austin Martin, Austin Healy, Jensen, just about every British Leyland
as well as Rover, Nash, Jaguar, Bently, Griffith, and our illustrious
DeLoreans,11 at last count.
All of the money raised is donated to a worthy cause.

Jack Singer of Richmond Va. helped organize a great event at the Berkley
Plantation with a rally through the Virginia hourse farm countryside.

The Taste of Britian British Car in Lancaster Pennsylvania is also a nice
show. There is a Polo game and charity British Car show. In 1993 I meet John
DeLorean there. I think his son Zack was playing polo, and they arrived in a
streched Rolls Royce Limo. The show and Polo Game is in late August.

Additionally, check out the Mid-Atlantic DeLorean web site.

I may be removing my muffler in the next few days.  In inspecting the area, the exhaust pipe clamp (items 47,48,49,50 in 1:5:0 in the Parts Manual) are rusted solid.  As I will only be removing it (don't ask why) for a short time, so I want to have a replacement clamp available and throw away the original one.  Does anyone know what size clamp is needed (and any manufactures suggested) for this job so I can be prepared.

Thanks,

I just took my D out of storage this weekend and put it on a charger for a day.

Both of my interior rocker lights will not shut off in any position except center.  They have always worked until I pulled it out of storage  this year.  Now they won't shut off in 10 seconds like they used to, they just stay on.  The door switches, on or off, have no affect on them.  There is no draw on the battery when the car is off except for the clock.  I wonder if one of the door switches is staying on?

What to do now?

Subject: Update on Shock Treatment

Last fall I had a severe lack of control of my car at almost any speed.  The car would sway and twist while going down the road.  In the end I found out the passenger front shock broke off the frame and was hanging there.  After replacing both front shocks this week the car drives better than it EVER had in the last four years.

Many weird symptoms like "play" in my steering wheel are now GONE!  I've always had at least two inches of "play".  I replaced the front shocks and now the "play" is gone.  That makes sense why after replacing all my steering U-joints nothing improved last summer, it was the shocks all along.

This is written for anyone who has been trying to locate those weird front end symptoms.  Try the shocks.

Subject: Complete door, hood, trunk shock kit COMPLETES package

I just replaced all the door, trunk, and engine bay shocks on my D this week and WOW what a difference this makes.  I could have never guessed how much pleasure this adds to the enjoyment factor of driving a DeLorean.  This is the BEST money I have spent on this car so far hands down.

I bought the kit from DMC in Houston and it took a total of 12 minutes to install all six upper shocks on the car.  Advise on the door shocks: If one of the ball ends won't come off the door, don't bang on it simply unscrew it from the unit and screw the new unit on.  Simple.  I had one on the drivers door that did not want to come off so I just unscrewed it.

If you are even considering this kit don't hesitate!  Get it now.  You will not regret it.  Thanks to Erik G for the opportunity to see how a real DeLorean door is supposed to open.  I ran out and bought the kit.

My DeLorean only came with one key.  It opens the drivers door and starts the ignition perfectly.  It does not, however, fit the passenger door at all.  Now that I think about it I don't believe it works in the hidden compartment lock as the whole lock spins around anyway.

Where is the mistake?  Does a DeLorean usually take two keys?
