That is just the "donut" spare tire. It comes standard with all
DeLoreans. This car may have driven away from the accident. It looks
as though the stainless door and fender absorbed most of the damage.
BTW I suspect the "3.8 liter Volvo engine" is a typo.

Were you at the spring dust of in NJ last weekend? There was a car that
I was under that I commented did not have the upgrade...
If the stabilizer bar is bolted directly to the frame crush zone, then
you need the upgrade. The upgrade included a reinforcement brace then
went between the stabilizer bracket, and frame. I think the bolts were
also painted blue after the update was done.
That is the easiest way to see it, but there are some other things that
were done during the upgrade, such as a double nut on one of the arms,
and a cotter pin added to the lower ball joint.
I learned from Rob Grady this past weekend that there was a initial
recall on this item where the bolts were painted red, and then a update
to the recall where the bolts were painted blue.
I am sure one of the professionals on the list can give more detail.
(Me being a hobbyist!)
As far as cost goes, call your favorite part supplier and get a price.
I dont know what they go for.
Until you have the upgrade done, I would suggest you limit your use of
the car. A good pothole could take the front end out. Once the frame
has been damaged, it is a expensive repair.

possible it was damaged when you hit the curb.

First, how exaclty does the central locking work (assuming it is
working correctly)? Does locking one door automatically lock the
other? Do you lock the doors while open and then close them?
Everyone talks about how they fail, but nowhere can I find how they
are supposed to work!
Second, what's a reasonable cost to have all the headliners redone?

I saw this fender in Ohio, and I think this was the DuPont fender with
the anodized colors. It was a interesting look. You could see the
stainless steel grain under the paint, it looked like a "stain" more
than a paint.
If there ever was a entire car made this way, Id love to see it.

fender, but an adhesive tape in various colors. There *IS* a right
rear quarter panel in the warehouse that is painted with a red tinted
clear coat, as described in SSI. Once again, no one now knows the
origin of this panel, or how it got painted.

The orange car you mention was a "mule" with fiberglass panels
utilized to facilitate testing of the prototypes rather than wait for
stainless panels to be made available. This is also mentioned in SSI.
