Dave, What am I missing. What does the color of the wire coming off the
pulse coil have to do with the way it runs ?? If you unplug the pulse coil
wire from the fire wall and check the resistance, and it reads about 580 to
620 ohms cold then it's all right.

I now have a new, used distributor, thanks to Dave T  and a brand new pulse 
coil wire.
 
I plan to first replace the bright green wire I have on  my existing 
distributor with a proper wire and see if that has any  effect.
 
If not I will be changing out the entire distributor  with the new wire.
 
Then if it works properly I may put my green wire on the new distributor  
just to see which of the components is at fault.
 
Doe anyone have a 'simple" method for gaining access to  the distributor 
other than removing all the hoses on the fuel  distributor....
 
BTW - Does anyone have a Bright Green pulse coil  wire in their car?
