  I'm glad you saw my post!  I would like to know your "controversial" fix - sounds very interesting!
   
  When you speak of having a handle on adjusting the door mechanisms, if by that you mean "read the manual", then yes. :O )  I do know how to access the internals of the door by removing the panels.  I've also read the striker pin adjustment page on the DMCNews resource page several times and feel I have a good grasp on it.
   
  When I said I adjusted the pin, I should have said latch.  On the door, the slim rectangular part that lacthes.  That's what I have to move, just slightly so the opening is clear enough for the striker pin to line up right to hit it.
   
  Thanks Wayne, a lot, because I was going to attempt this myself this weekend (hopefully!) going by the manual and service tech. bulletin
