If you would have taken his advice at that point, you probably would have saved yourself a lot of aggravation and money. You claim the car was in good shape when you purchased it, but I find that hard to believe. It may have LOOKED good, but it seems obvious to me that you missed some major problems on the car. I have seen a number of "good looking" deloreans where on closer inspection it turns out be a parts car that just happens to run by some miracle. Decide if you want to cut your losses, or fix up the car.
