Torquing lug nuts

I just read the following from a DML back issue in Vol #219

>Please Torque your wheels! An impact gun
will warp rotors and crack wheels.

Is he serious? Is it really bad to use an impact wrench on Delorean wheels
like all the shops do? Or is this just a superstition?
