For the past 12 years, I've been wearing rigid gas permeable contact lenses, which by the nature of Keratoconus (irregular degeneration of the cornea) are always compromised in fit and comfort. I can't rest my eyes by wearing glasses - f I want to drive my car, or read anything further away the 1" (by luck, my right eye allows for relazedreading at very close quarters thanks to part of my right cornea forming a very stong lens) I have to wear my lenses. I've been coping with a very sore right lens, and a sometimes agonising left lens for short periods for the past couple of years. Without my lenses, I see the world, both near and far, with multiple alternate images. It allows me to tell that there's a red car on the horizon, but not recognise a person standing in front of me. I can watch the TV (without reading any subtitles), but not a cinema screen... A chance google search revealed corneal inserts called Intacs which I'm saving up to pay for now. The only semi-permnent alternative is a corneal transplant Martin content22207 wrote: > > Uh oh, Martin & Bill playing nicely together -- Doth snoweth in Hell. > > Cataract was probably caused by a head injury in 2001.
