>I'm wanting to put in a Kenwood 715 or 815 DVD with the pop up screen. Did you mean 717 or 817 as in KVT-817-DVD? I couldn't find the numbers you mentioned on the Kenwood site. I also couldn't find the wiring diagram. >First off, are there any power compatibility issues to worry about >since the car is this old? You shouldn't have an issue if you are using the built-in amplifier in the head unit. The model numbers I listed above use fifteen amp fuses. If you are using external amplifiers you should run additional power and ground directly to the battery. Most people don't run a ground to the battery but it will help prevent noise. >Also, can I just use kickers (ala DMC Garden Grove) in place of the >dash speakers? You can use any brand that will fit but make sure no other surface is above the mounting top most mounting ring of the speaker. If nothing is, make sure the cone does not travel higher when at full excursion. You want a really nice seal between the mounting ring and the dash. The same goes for the rear speakers but I would think you aren't using those with the conversion. >Has anyone completely rewired the Motor Antenna so it can be >activated by a seperate switch? I doubt I'll be using the radio >feature of the car that much and would like the ability to just >lower the antenna when I don't need it. You really should only need to add an in-line toggle switch to the antenna wire from the head unit. Also, if the antenna you use does not come with a relay make sure you add one as you don't want the head unit supplying the power to raise the antenna. A lot of modern head units will have a remote turn on wire for amplifiers and a separate power antenna lead. When you switch the source to something other than radio it will lower the antenna automatically. I hope that helps a little. Greg ------------------------ Yahoo!
