Hey lads,
this is my story!

I first saw the car in BTTF1 when I was about 6, and my mouth fell 
open. I asked my Dad what it was, and he told me it was a DeLorean, 
and was built only 150 miles from my house. Wow! I was instantly 
hooked from the moment it reversed out of the trailer as the time 
machine.
Anyway, for the next few years I tried my best to get any information 
on the car, but it was very difficult. That is until I first used the 
internet at about the age of 12, and the first keyword I typed into 
the search engine was DeLorean!

Anyway, it was not until I was 16 that I first saw one. My Dad was 
getting his car serviced, and the mechanic mentioned out of the blue 
that he had just worked on a DeLorean. So, Dad got the phone number 
of the guy who owned it, an American living in Co. Clare, Ireland, 
who had brought the car home with him. He invited us up to see the 
car, I was so nervous that it wouldn't live up to how good it looked 
in all the photos I had seen of DeLoreans, but we came around a bend 
and suddenly there it was, gleaming in the sunlight. Simply amazing, 
and way better in the flesh than any photo has ever shown it to be.

The American, Bob King, even took me for a drive in the car, which I 
will never forget. 

If my Dad thought that I had finally got "DeLorean" out of my system, 
he was sadly mistaken! I was even more crazy about these cars, and 
really got interested in the history. I read a lot of the usual crap 
in my early days of researching the car, all negative against the car 
and John DeLorean. Thankfully I kept an open mind through all this, 
and began to see the other side of the story. This led me to calling 
John DeLorean on the phone when I was in Boston one summer (I was 18 
I think), and during the call, he invited me to visit him at his home 
in NJ. My brother and I spoke to him for an hour, I felt so honoured 
to be just chatting away to this amazing guy! Another moment I'll 
never forget. 

I finally bought my DeLorean in Febuary 2002, and it has become a big 
part of our lives. The weekend my wife and I fell in love with each 
other (awwww) was on a weekend we drove to Wildwood New Jersey 
together in the DeLorean, and we had many other great little road 
trips around New England that summer before shipping the car back to 
Ireland. The car was used as the getaway car at our wedding, and is 
like a 2nd child in the family! It will never ever be sold.

Anway, to sum it all up, Hello, my name is John, and I'm a DeLoreanut.
