Well, I grew up on BTTF (having been born in 1987). Didn't see any of
the movies for about three years or so.. happened to see the original
on (I think) AMC a few years ago. Marty says "You built a time
machine.. out of a De Lorean???" I sat there.. "he said 'a' De Lorean?
There were... more than one? Meaning I could maybe get one!!!! AAAHHHH!!!"
So, a few months of harassing everyone I knew with trivia gleaned from
this list and the DML (thank you google for leading me to both places)
I found out that there was one here in my town...
Saw the taillights.. and almost broke down. I couldn't even speak, I
was so shocked. The owner's fiancee let me sit in it and everything.
Since then I've been working towards a purchase (the car has a nitrous
oxide system, new intake manifold, and some other stuff... the owner
is a professional mechanic with a large import base) and have been
getting closer: Eagle Scout (almost there) plus scholarships (also
almost there) will get me over half the car's cost out of my college
fund (~$10K).
The car does need to have the driver's torsion bar adjusted (just a
bit loose), clean some rust spots off of the interior, where the
rearview mirror/sunblock panel mounts stained it, new handgrip on both
doors, a good washing, and maybe new seat covers, dash, and binnacle.
Any dash and binnace cracks are small; I don't remember that well. The
seats have sheepskin covers.
I want that car.
