[DMCForum] Re: More ignition analysis (ON TOPIC) WALT

I have a nearly new Optima red-top battery.

I measured the resistance of the pulse coil. 731 ohms after sitting
for 30 minutes, 780 ohms after idling in my parking space for 20
minutes after a 25 minute drive.

High, but probably not high enough to cause my problems. Still, the
next step is to measure the voltage from the pulse coil while
cranking over.

I'll also point out that I had an Accel coil totally fail on the
DeLorean last December and the resistances across both windings read
within specs. I may just replace the damn thing to eliminate any
possibility.

Also, I've come up with an interesting "re-interpretation" of the
symptoms. It's kind of hard to describe:

It appears that the stumbling occurs during periods of maximum timing
advance and high (above 2000) RPM's. For instance, If I floor the
pedal in 4th at 1500 RPM's acceleration is smooth and normal. When I
rev slightly to pull away, in 1st and 2nd you reach 2000 RPM's
quickly and the "bogging" occurs. On the highway, at 2500 RPM's in
5th, if I press too hard on the pedal the bogging occurs. Why?
Something happens when the timing advances to a certain point.
Exactly what it is, I don't know. It only happens under load. It
won't do it by revving it in the driveway.

I guess what I'm trying to say is,
