Rich, I'm alternatorless because I let James LaLonde take the one off my car so he could drive home last weekend. He came down to help me and some other D owners and ended up having problems with his car on the way here. I mentioned it to tease him because this week has been extremly nice and I can't drive :-) A replacement is on the way. Thanks for the info! Hey James, If your not returning you old Alt for the $30 core charge you may want to look into having it re-built & keep as a spare. Shannon Y 16506 soon not to be alternator-less ;-) --------------- Message: 13 Date: Wed, 08 Oct 2003 13:54:57 -0000 From: "cruznmd" <racuti1@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Shortend/Clickable URLs -- Strickland Friendly Shannon, Why are you still "alternator-less"? Are you in the U.S.? Dissatisfied with the stock model, and not sure what to get for a replacement? Don't have the cash? I ask, because I had this problem and I took a route that seems obvious to me, but one that I don't hear D owners take advantage of very much. I'm on a budget here. At the time, I was unaware that the stock alternator doesn't carry the load very well. I just took mine to an auto-electrical repair shop and had it rebuilt for less than half the cost of a new one. It would have been even less but mine was a rusted, seized up paperweight so it took the guy extra labor. That was exactly one year ago, and even under load (lights, cooling fans and blower on) mine doesn't drop more than one volt. Surely there's an auto electrical repair shop near you? Hope this helps, Rich __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search http://shopping.yahoo.com Yahoo!
