> Im taking my second set of valve covers for the delorean and turning them in , to be glass bead blasted for a chrome like polished aluminum look. any thoughts on this? Ron Wester has done this with his screaming yellow DeLorean. I think I remember him saying that he uses a motorcycle aluminum polish to keep it shiny. I think it would be a lot of work to keep the polished parts looking polished unless you painted them or had them anodized. Anodized in some weird color could look cool, or you could do clear anodizing. Turd in a punch bowl? Try a Snickers bar. ;-) I like the idea (of polished valve covers ...and yeah, okay, turds too.) > correct me if im wrong, the tension for the alternator side is adjusted on the alternator bracket itself... I use a really big screwdriver to "pry" the alternator over to tighten the belt. The tip of the screwdriver goes somewhere on the alternator bracket, and the side of the screwdriver pries against the body of the alternator. Our blessed alternator man John Hervey mentioned before a story about how someone damaged the case of an alternator doing this. It doesn't take much to over-tighten an alternator belt. Some crazy rule of thumb says that a properly tightened belt should have about one inch of flex for every foot in length. I'm sure someone will correct me on this. > the belts and valve cover removals will be turned into new howto's Cool. Sorry for being so slow about getting together with you on how-to projects like this. I'm staying really busy. Walt Yahoo!
