Don't think compression has anything to do with it -- my 11:1 460 was designed around a ~10,000 ignition, and I've been running an 8.5:1 460 for several years on a 45,000 coil no problem (did switch from Motorcraft to Autolite plugs). Could it be "Wonderplugs" aren't worth much to begin with?
