Can adjust my CPR because it isn't stock... (am afraid Mr Historian is stuck with whatever pressure his bi-metal plates produce) Don't dismiss your crappy ignition so quickly. Louie G at least will back me up on this one: BUY YOURSELF SOME DECENT COMPONENTS. Even stock would be better than what you're running now. At speed you don't have a lot of time to explode mixture. Yellow spark isn't going to do it. Worst experience in my life was screwing around with low voltage ignition (factory spec) on 1969 engine I transplanted in one of my Lincolns. Mistakenly listened to mechanic buddy who convinced me to keep everything stock. While he was correct Re: camshaft, valves, etc, ignition was neverending headache. Simply converting to high voltage electronic (breakerless) TOTALLY reinvented the car. Convinced me then to swap coils on them all. Will probably drive one of the Lincolns next time I come up there. We can throw its coil on your car and see if you don't eat your words. Still have the Bosch plugs I swapped out of the DeLo. Will give them to you to get rid of those stupid Champions. Re: timing while spark advance connected -- in theory you'd be OK *IF* spark advance cut off solenoid is working. If solenoid is letting vacuum through, car is in fact way retarded. Watch timing mark as throttle plates open. 13 degrees idling with full vacuum will probably jump past TDC as it drops. Re: steering rack -- all my other vehicles are center link so you might need to check with rack & pinion owners. Outer tie rods look conventional enough, but have no idea what's inside those boots. FWIW I can replace everything from pittman arm down for $100. See now why I'm glad ratio of Lincolns to DeLoreans is 5:1 and not other way around... Re: 302 in a DeLorean -- would never work without a lot of ballast up front. Engine is behind rear axles. Cast iron would tip car backwards and lift front wheels off ground. Better leave men's engines in men's cars and continue debugging your PRV (excuse me: better leave boys' engines in boys' cars. 460 is a man's engine).
