I'm still leaning towards a mis-placed distributor as the reason for my car not starting (especially in light of new info I received during a phone call last night). But I have one final question on the timing chains. When installing the chains, at this point, it's irrelevant where the pistons are in their stroke right? What matters is the marks on the chain line up with the marks on the cam and crank sprockets. I did this exactly as the Book and DMCH said. I was even told you don't have to be -that- precise as the distributor would be adjusted to smooth it out. If I was off, then the pistons would strike the valves. I hand cranked it 4 times to make sure nothing was interfering, so this has to be correct. Yahoo!
