RE: [DMCForum] Re: The Moment of Truth

I will have to disagree with your statement about use grease.

I have built many engines and complex industrial pumps and compressors and
have never had a problem using white or moly grease. As the engine warms
up
the grease will liquefy and be displaced by the oil.

Perhaps you had used a wheel bearing grease when you rebuilt your lawn
mower.

DO NOT USE GREASE as assembly lube!!!! I personally killed one engine
cause
I used grease when I put it back together, luckily it was only lawnmower.
You must use something that will easily dissolve as soon as the engine oil
starts to circulate. White grease or Moly will stay inplace and block oil
flow. I would use regular 20-50 oil before I use even the thinest coat of
grease.

STP engine treatment could also be called "engine honey" and can be used
but
I would still recommend getting a tube of real assembly / pre lube. It
will
cost about the same as a can of grease and you will know that your engine
is
safe.
