Hi Rich It's VITAL that the liners do not shift. You can buy clamps that are kind of a dog-bone shape that clamp the liners down but allow the pistons to move. There's another tool that can lock the flywheel where the starter motor goes that would do the job. Alternatively, bolt the head back on just for the time it takes to get the crank nut off. If you can't lock the crank, air tools are your only real option, unless you are lucky and having someone in the car standing on the brakes with the g'box in 5th - we usually find the clutch slips first though.
